2021 Battle for the Banded Rail planting dates

Restoration planting at Hoddy Estuary Park

Planting season has begun!

And Battle for the Banded Rail, always supremely well-organised, has published all its Waimeha/Waimea Inlet planting dates for the entire season. Check it out:

Download a pdf file here.

The first planting session is this coming Sunday, 23 May 2021 at the Stringer Embankment on Bronte Peninsula. The weather’s meant to be fine and cloudy, so it’ll be nice weather for digging holes! The session goes from 9am to 1pm and everyone is welcome. A slap-up morning tea will be provided.

Our next planting will be on Sunday 13 June, same start and finish time, at Manuka Island. However, if you want to get some practice in beforehand, the Mapua & Districts Community Association is planting at Dominion Flats on 29 and 30 May.

Please remember to bring gloves, a spade, and some drinking water. Wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

If you want more info, email Battle for the Banded Rail at [email protected] or phone Kathryn on 544 4537.
