2024 Planting Season Battle for the Banded Rail

The planting season’s here and it’s going to be a goodie!

Join the friendly super-organised Battle for the Banded Rail team at various planting bee’s across the scenic Waimea Inlet.

The first one is Sunday 26 May at Pukeko Lane from 9am to 1pm, and everyone’s welcome!

There’s eight different planting bees this season, from May – September. Come to all, some, or even just one! We’d love to see you there. A delicious home made morning tea is provided.

Please bring gloves, a spade, drinking water and wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

Banded Rail : Bradley Shields

Battle for the Banded Rail is a community conservation project supported by the Tasman Environmental Trust. Since 2015 the project has trapped 10,900 pests and planted 164,000 plants in the Waimea Inlet – half of these were planted by community volunteers.
